2. Project Overview / Executive Summary

Mission
  • To accelerate the standardization of an initial set of ODA components through
    • Developing and validating specifications for ODA components
    • Collaborative development of the ODA Canvas and other non-commercial software code using an opensource approach*
    • Establishing the ODA Reference Implementation(s)
    • Testing and validating the ODA Reference Implementation(s) using black box commercial components
    • Preparing the ground for ODA component interoperability testing
Value
  • All ODA-CA Project members receive the following
    • A dedicated development & runtime environment in the Open Digital Lab to be shared by all project members, available from December 2020
    • User seats for the Open Digital Lab (number of seats depends on tier level, see fees)
    • ODL seats are transferable between staff working on ODA-CA, but are not transferable to any other (future) Projects on ODL
    • Companies may allocate their ODL seats to their own staff, or 'sponsor' one or more developers from a second TM Forum member company. Sponsored seats may be reclaimed by the sponsoring company with 2 weeks’ notice
Strategy
  • ODA-CA is the first examples of an Accelerator Project
    • ODA-CA is the first project under the new tmf.codes legal entity which supports code-sharing collaboration with Apache 2.0 licensing
    • The project will work in TM Forum’s Open Digital Lab environment (significantly revamped)
    • Participation is limited (although future tmf.codes projects may be fully open)

4. Project Workstreams and Deliverables

The project workstreams and deliverables for this project are introduced in the sections below.

Migrate the Canvas to the ODA-CA environment in ODL and continue its development there

Populate the Canvas with ODA components to create a “working prototype RI”

Create a complete, machine-readable specification for a component (envelope definition & Canvas services to support it)

Progress the BOS Catalyst backlog

Proxy component

CQRS

Authentication & security

High-volume event architecture

[Other]

Define the component evaluation process and design an automation framework to support it

Validate the above process with real world use cases

Explore synergies with the App Trading Marketplace Catalyst (building on the vision of a software marketplace for ODA components)
