Sierra Wireless IoT platform provides an end to end solution for sending sensor data to the cloud. It includes the embedded platform that is provided by the mangOH open Hardware (mangoh.io) and Legato open (legato.io) software platform using Sierra Wireless WP Smart module. The cloud connectivity is provided by AirVantage cloud services  as well as Sierra Wireless SIM.

The Smart City application will take data from various Bluetooth or Grove Studio sensors. Bluetooth connectivity is provided by on board Bluetooth IoT expander card.

The sensors kit includes the following sensors:

a. Grove Studio sensors based : Temperature, Humidity, Dust, Air Quality, Light, Sound

b. Bluetooth based: digital microphone, magnetic sensor, humidity, pressure, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, object temperature, and ambient temperature

The connectivity is provided by:

a. 2G/3G/4G cellular as well

b. WiFi IoT Expander card

Location sensing is provided by on board GPS/Glonass.

The APIs we will provide for building various smart city use cases include (but not limited to):

Level #1

i. Data Router

ii. Location Sensing

iii. MQTT/LWM2M

iv. API to connect AirVantage to enterprise software

Level #2:

i. Sandbox

ii. Communication Manger/ Modem services

iii. Twitter

Level #3:

Misc API found at legato.io

Sierra will provide 20 mangOH Open Hardware platforms for TmForum members to play with on July 11th and 12th

  1. Will provide 20 Bluetooth/WiFi IoT Expander cards + multiple Grove Studio Sensors
